Pat's engraved leaf added to hospice's Memory Tree

Story

The engraved bronze leaf featuring Patricia's name and commissioned by Kevin was added to the sculptured Memory Tree in the grounds of the hospice on Monday, 16 October. Kevin was joined by other family members and friends to mark this special occasion when the personalised leaf was secured to the tree. Hayley Brown and Jackie Smith, two of the hospice's fundraising team, officiated at the ceremony. Kevin said: "For me, it was emotional returning to the hospice but it was a good emotion. Seeing Jackie screw the leaf to the tree did bring some tears to my eyes, but they were tears of joy at seeing her (Patricia's) engraved leaf proudly displaying on the memory tree. "Afterwards, my next door neighbour and so supportive friend Lynne ordered an engraved leaf of her own dedicated to someone whom she called 'Mama Pat'. "I am sure that when Jackie and Hayley place the leaf on the tree, a few more tears will be shed." The memory tree, which stands close to the hospice's entrance, was designed and built by local artist Ian Marshall, who also handcrafts the personalised leaves.
