Lighting a real candle for Pat at Chester Cathedral

Story

On a recent trip to north Wales to visit friends, Woz and I took the opportunity of visiting Chester for the day. Chester has the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1,000-year-old Cathedral with Europe's finest example of medieval carvings, as well as the 700-year-old Rows galleries. The Rows galleries feature a set of structures in each of the four main streets of Chester, comprising a series of covered walkways on the first floor behind which are entrances to shops and other premises. During our visit, we took a tour of the magnificent Cathedral and found a votive candle stand for visitors and worshippers to light individual candles dedicated to their loved ones. My thoughts immediately turned to Pat and so I lit a candle for her, as well as one for my late father. I also wrote a prayer for Pat, which was to be read at the next service.
